The Dallas-Fort Worth area has the most options. The Galaxy Drive-in Theatre in Ennis runs seven screens south of Dallas, one of the highest screen counts of any drive-in in the country. The Coyote Drive-in in Fort Worth operates four screens year-round near the Trinity River. The Brazos Drive-in in Granbury has been running a single screen since 1952, and the Graham Drive-in west of Fort Worth dates to 1948.

Houston has two drive-ins: the Showboat Drive-in in Hockley northwest of the city and the Moonstruck Drive-in in the East End. South of Austin, Doc's Drive-in Theatre in Buda opened in 2018 with twin screens and themed overnight cabins. The Stars and Stripes chain runs three-screen locations in both Lubbock and New Braunfels, between Austin and San Antonio.

San Antonio's Mission Marquee Plaza on Roosevelt Avenue hosts free community screenings on a single screen, managed by the city. In the Panhandle, the Tascosa Drive-in in Amarillo has been open since 1952, and the Sandell Drive-in in Clarendon runs a single screen each spring and summer.

West Texas has the Big Sky Drive-in in Midland with three screens, and the Town and Country Drive-in in Abilene with 1,500 car capacity. The Last Drive-in Picture Show in Gatesville serves central Texas, while the Wes-Mer Drive-in in Mercedes is the southernmost drive-in in the state, down in the Rio Grande Valley near the Mexican border.
