North Carolina Drive-Ins
North Carolina has seven open drive-in theaters with nine screens, scattered from the mountains to the coast. The oldest, Raleigh Road Outdoor Theater in Henderson, has been showing movies since 1949.
View All Drive-InsThe Charlotte area has two options: Badin Road Drive-In in Albemarle, about 45 minutes east, runs two screens with double features, and Belmont Drive-In on McAdenville Road west of the city re-opened in 2023 after a digital upgrade. Eden Drive-In near the Virginia border added a second screen around 2020 and operates seasonally starting in March.
Newer additions include StateLine Movie Time in Tabor City, which opened in 2019 near the South Carolina border and runs year-round, and Silo Cinema Drive-In in North Wilkesboro, set up on a working farm. Triangle Cinemas runs a drive-in screen at their Six Forks location in Raleigh on weekends. All theaters broadcast sound on FM radio.
