Minnesota Drive-Ins
Minnesota has five drive-in theaters spread from the southern suburbs of Minneapolis to the Canadian border. Short northern summers mean most run from May through September, though a couple open as early as April.
View All Drive-InsClosest to the Twin Cities is the Elko Drive-in in Elko New Market, about 30 miles south of Minneapolis and sharing a property with Elko Speedway. Opened in 2014, it is the newest drive-in in the state. The Starlite Drive-in 5 in Litchfield, roughly 65 miles west of Minneapolis, is the only two-screen drive-in in Minnesota, holding 500 cars and recently upgraded with new projectors.
In central Minnesota, the Long Drive-in Theater in Long Prairie has been running since 1956 and also offers on-site camping for RVs and tents. In the far southwestern corner, the Verne Drive-in in Luverne is a family-run operation where kids always get in free. It opens in mid-April and expands to more nights per week after Memorial Day.
The most remote is the Sky-Vu Drive-in in Warren, in the Red River Valley near the North Dakota border. Established in 1954, it is the northernmost drive-in in the state. All five theaters use digital projection and FM radio sound.
