Michigan Drive-Ins
Michigan has nine operating drive-in theaters, spread from the Detroit suburbs to the Upper Peninsula.
View All Drive-InsThe Ford Wyoming Drive-in in Dearborn is the state's largest, with five screens and room for 2,500 cars. It's also one of the few drive-ins in Michigan that stays open year-round. Nearby in Plymouth, the Summer Drive-in at USA Hockey Arena runs three screens in the arena's parking lot from June through August. The Memory Lane Drive-in in Monroe rounds out the southeast Michigan options.
On the west side of the state, the Getty 4 Drive-in in Norton Shores operates four screens near Muskegon, and the Capri Drive-in in Coldwater runs two screens seven nights a week from March through October. Further north, the Cherry Bowl Drive-in in Honor sits about 20 minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes and has been running since 1953.
The Hi-Way Drive-in in Carsonville in the Thumb region is the oldest operating drive-in in Michigan, open since 1948. The US 23 Drive-in in Flint has three screens and has been running since 1952. Up in the Upper Peninsula, the Highway 2 Drive-in in Manistique is the only drive-in in the UP, run by a nonprofit that offers free-admission community movie nights.
The state lost two drive-ins in 2024 when the Five Mile in Dowagiac and the Sunset in Hartford both closed permanently after their owner faced health challenges.
