Connecticut Drive-Ins
Connecticut has two drive-in theaters, one in the eastern part of the state and one in the center.
View All Drive-InsThe Mansfield Drive-In on Stafford Road in Mansfield has three screens and has been open since 1954. It sits on a 40-acre complex that also hosts one of the largest flea markets in eastern Connecticut. The season runs April through September.
The Southington Drive-In on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike is a community-owned, volunteer-run single-screen theater. It originally opened in 1955, closed in 2002, and was revived in 2010 by local volunteers. All proceeds go to civic and nonprofit organizations. It's open May through September.
Both theaters broadcast sound on FM radio. Connecticut once had many more drive-ins, but these two are the only ones that survived the state's suburban development boom.
