Colorado Drive-Ins
Colorado has seven open drive-in theaters, from the Denver metro to the Western Slope and the San Luis Valley. Clear skies and dry air make for good outdoor viewing, though seasons are shorter at higher elevations. Most run from spring through early fall.
View All Drive-InsThe 88 Drive-in in Commerce City is the last original drive-in in the Denver metro, open since 1972 with a 500-car lot and two to three movies per night. The Holiday Twin Drive-in in Fort Collins, about 60 miles north of Denver on South Overland Trail, has two screens, 700 car spots, and one of the longest seasons in the state, from March through October. The Mesa Drive-in in Pueblo is the state's largest by screen count, with three screens each broadcasting on a separate FM frequency since 1951. The Comanche Drive-in in Buena Vista sits at 8,000 feet in the Arkansas River valley, one of the highest-elevation drive-ins anywhere. In the San Luis Valley, the Star Drive-in in Monte Vista has two screens and a Best Western hotel on the property where guests can watch movies from their rooms.
On the Western Slope, the Star Drive-in in Montrose has been family-owned since 1950, making it the longest-running drive-in in the state. The Tru Vu Drive-in in Delta rounds out the lineup with a single screen on Highway 92.
