Drive-Ins Near Tampa

Three drive-in theaters operate within about 40 miles of Tampa, all open year-round thanks to Florida's climate.

The closest is the Ruskin Family Drive-In, roughly 30 miles south on US Highway 41. A single-screen theater open since 1952, it was rebuilt after Hurricane Milton caused major damage in October 2024 and reopened in March 2025. The box office is cash only, and sound broadcasts on 89.3 FM.

The Silver Moon Drive-In in Lakeland, about 35 miles east, is one of the busiest drive-ins in the state. It runs double features on two screens seven nights a week and has operated continuously since 1948. A weekend swap shop shares the property.

The Joy-Lan Drive-In in Dade City, about 40 miles north, has been open since 1950 and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2025. Pets are welcome on leashes, and a flea market operates on the grounds on weekends.
