Drive-Ins Near Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City's drive-in options thinned in late 2024 when the Redwood Drive-in in West Valley City closed after 76 years, leaving the Erda Drive-in as the closest option.

The Erda is about 35 miles west of downtown on Highway 36, between Tooele and Grantsville. Under new ownership since 2022, it upgraded to 4K laser projection and shows double features Thursday through Saturday from May to October. Sound is on FM radio. The drive takes around 40 minutes from the city center, a quick trip on I-80 through the Oquirrh Mountains. Beyond the Erda, the next closest drive-ins are the Echo in Coalville (about 45 miles east) and the Basin in Roosevelt (roughly 150 miles east), so the Tooele corridor is the most practical route for a movie night.
