The theater is on North 55th Avenue in Glendale, about 10 miles northwest of downtown. With nine screens and digital projection on all of them, it runs year-round. The desert climate means no rain-outs and no winter closures, a rare luxury in the drive-in world. Sound comes through FM radio, and each screen shows a double feature.

Being part of the West Wind chain, the Glendale 9 has a more commercial feel than a family-run single-screen operation, but the scale is impressive. Nine screens running simultaneously means there is usually something playing for every taste. Summer screenings start late since sunset pushes past 7:30 PM in June, but the warm evenings are part of the appeal. It is the only option for the entire Phoenix metro, so weekends can get busy.
