Wisconsin Drive-Ins
Wisconsin has eight operating drive-in theaters, spread from Door County in the northeast to Monroe near the Illinois border. The state has a mix of vintage theaters dating to the 1950s and newer operations that opened in the 2000s.
View All Drive-InsThe northeastern part of the state has three options. The Field of Scenes in Freedom near Appleton has two screens and holds 500 cars. The Moonlight in Shawano operates alongside an indoor cinema. Up in Door County, the Skyway in Fish Creek has been a tourist draw since 1950 and is the state's longest continuously running drive-in.
Central and southern Wisconsin have several options as well. The Big Sky in Wisconsin Dells, the state's biggest tourist town, has two screens and dates to 1950. The Hi-Way 18 in Jefferson is a quick drive from Milwaukee and holds 540 cars. The Sky Vu in Monroe, near the Illinois border, has been running since 1954. The Starlite 14 in Richland Center sits in the Driftless Area and holds 500 cars.
In the northwest, the Stardust in Chetek opened in 2007 and has two screens in the heart of lake country. All eight theaters use digital projection and FM radio for sound.
