Vermont Drive-Ins
Vermont has three drive-in theaters spread across the state, from the Burlington area to the Connecticut River valley.
View All Drive-InsThe largest is the Sunset Drive-In in Colchester, about 15 minutes north of Burlington. Open since 1948 and still family-owned, it has four screens and fits 500 cars. It's one of the biggest drive-ins in New England. The season runs May through September.
The Fairlee Drive-In Theatre sits on Route 5 in Fairlee, right on the Connecticut River near the New Hampshire border. A single-screen theater since 1950, it broadcasts sound on 88.7 FM. The Bethel Drive-In in central Vermont has also been running since 1954, showing double features on weekends.
All three theaters run seasonally and broadcast sound on FM radio. Vermont's rural character and relatively dark skies make for good drive-in conditions once the summer sun goes down.
