Ohio Drive-Ins
Ohio has 23 open drive-in theaters with more than 40 screens, making it one of the top states in the country for drive-in moviegoing. Most run from April or May through September or October, though the Holiday Auto Theatre in Hamilton stays open March through December.
View All Drive-InsNortheast Ohio has the highest concentration, with seven theaters in and around the Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown areas. The Elm Road Triple in Warren has three screens, while the Auto-O-Rama west of Cleveland, Midway Twin in Ravenna, and Skyway Twin in Warren each run two. The Lynn Auto Theatre near Strasburg opened in 1937, making it one of the oldest continuously operating drive-ins in the country.
The Dayton area has three options: the Dixie Twin in Vandalia and the Melody 49 in Brookville both run two screens, while the Hi-Road in Kenton operates two farther north. Columbus has the South Drive-In right on South High Street, one of the few urban drive-ins still operating. Near Cincinnati, the Holiday Auto Theatre and the Starlite in Amelia both run single screens.
Northwestern Ohio has grown recently. Fleo's Flicks in Edgerton opened in 2022, and the Field of Dreams in Liberty Center has been running since 2007. The Van-Del in Middle Point has three screens, the most in that part of the state. All Ohio drive-ins broadcast sound on FM radio.
